Previously we have discussed what to do if you have missing teeth or would like a whiter smile, but what about if your teeth are misaligned? This can mean you have crooked teeth, or that you have an underbite or overbite that could be causing you discomfort, or is making you feel self-conscious about your smile. Braces have long been used to correct crooked teeth, but many adults veto this treatment for fear of looking like an awkward teenager with a mouth full of metal. However, this need not be the case, for at White Dental Rooms we offer our clients modern braces that are mostly invisible.
Benefits of Straighter Teeth
Having a straight smile can work wonders to increase your confidence, but also, having a better bite can improve your health. Crooked teeth can prove harder to clean, so you could be harbouring bacteria between them that could lead to plaque and gum disease, and ultimately tooth loss. An underbite or overbite can cause you to suffer from teeth grinding and headaches, as well as cause damage to your gums and jaw. Properly aligned teeth will reduce uneven wear on the surface of your teeth, and allow you to chew your food more efficiently which in turn can aid digestion.
Virtually Invisible Braces
At White Dental we offer easy and pain-free ways to reposition teeth such as the Damon and Incognito braces, as well as the Invisalign and Inman systems.
Damon braces are like the traditional style system, but with the benefit of being clear so they are much less noticeable. They are fixed to the teeth so that the brace is working 24 hours a day for a more rapid result, and because they do not have the elastic ties holding them in place, they are more comfortable. This also makes them easier to clean and they will not trap food as much which can lead to decay. By using a slide mechanism to hold the wire, they allow your teeth to move more quickly and freely into place.
Incognito Braces are hidden at the back of your teeth, unlike the normal ‘train track’ style. This means that they are virtually invisible from the outside and you can reposition your smile without anyone noticing the fixings. They are fully customised and tailored to suit your mouth and specific needs, so you know you are achieving the right results for you, and because they are made from gold alloy it means that they are suitable for people with a nickel allergy.
The Inman Aligner is a removable device used to straighten the front teeth quickly and easily. It can be used as a treatment by itself, or as a procedure required prior to other cosmetic treatments such as veneers. It has Nickel Titanium coil springs that control two aligning bows so that the teeth are carefully guided into place. This system is also useful for people that have had previous straightening treatment, but found that their teeth have moved out of place over time.
Invisalign uses a series of clear, thin, retainer-style aligners that you change every couple of weeks so that your teeth are gradually moved into the correct place. They do not have the brackets and wires that other systems may have, so you can take out the aligner when you need to. This treatment can therefore fit around your lifestyle, and provides a gentle and effective way of realigning your teeth. Each one is fully tailored for your mouth, and the progress is noticeable as each aligner is replaced.
